2017 World Alcohol Beverage Alliance(WABA) annual meeting was held in international conference center, Guiyang, Guizhou Province, China on September 10.
WABA vice-presidents, executive directors, directors, domestic and foreign guests, provincial and ministerial level leaders, heads of alcohol industry associations from Europe, Oceania, South America and Hong Kong, world-renowned entrepreneurs including Moutai, experts , scholars and other WABA members. There more than 700 people attended this meeting. Top 50 Chinese alcohol companies executives including Xijiu, Guotai, Dongjiu, Zhenjiu, Jinsha, tourism, research, education related units responsible person in where conference held attended the meeting.
The meeting published a series of research and construction achievements related to alcohol,launched a series of alcohol-related projects, and visited constructing Alcohol Expo were investigated.At 9:00 am the meeting was hosted by WABA Artistic Director, Mr. Xue Fei’s the former Central Television.
Party Secretary and Deputy Director of Guizhou People’s Congress Standing Committee, Sun Yongchun; Party Deputy Secretary and Vice-chairman of CPPCC of Guizhou, Meng Qiliang ;Vice-chairman of Guizhou CPPCC and deputy team leader of Guizhou big data leading group, Xie Xiaoyao attended the meeting.At the beginning of the meeting, Party Deputy Secretary and Vice-chairman of CPPCC of Guizhou, Meng Qiliang expressed a warm welcome to WABA because WABA held annual meeting in Guizhou Province on behalf of Guizhou Province.
Meng Qiliang thanked WABA for enhanced the opening of Guizhou,promoted global resource fluidity, culture and information exchange, the publication of alcohol industry research results, promoted China (Guizhou) International Wine Expo held successfully. And hoped that the WABA can support China (Guizhou) International Wine Expo held as always, introduce global wine business exhibitors to spread global alcohol culture, and promoteglobal resource fluidity.
Vice-chairman of WABA, former Deputy Director of National Entry & Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, Consultant of the State Council, Associate Director of Expert Committee of China Brand Promotion Association, Ge Zhirong thanked Relevant departments of China and Guizhou provincial leaders for their great support and help for WABA. Ge Zhirong said that WABA will continue to pay attention to China’s alcohol industry standards, brand building, and will jointly promote alcohol culture, alcohol resources, alcohol products, alcohol technology exchanges and cooperation with world’s wine-related association jointly to achieve a reasonable allocation of resources on behalf of Dr. Ante Simonic, Chairman of WABA and former Deputy Prime Minister of Croatia.
Mr. Chaivudh Chaiphan, Representative of Chavalit, former Thai Prime Minister and Vice-chairman of WABA, congratulated to the success of the meeting.Mr. Chaivudh Chaiphan made very good suggestions and comments on China and ASEAN 10+3 Alcohol Trade Promotion Program for strengthening the alcohol-related industries exchanges and cooperations. And welcomed the members and vice-chairmen to visit Thailand to promote the Asia-Pacific region’s alcohol industry’s collaborative innovation and facilitate customs clearance.Wang Xinguo, Vice-chairman of WABA and President of China Wine Circulation Association, made a brief report on the 2017 annual work on behalf of WABA.
Wang Xinguo summarized the work results of WABA over the past year. Such as the promotion of infrastructure, the successful establishment of ASEAN 10 +3 traceability system security platform and customs clearance facilitation project, WABA Shuanglong Alcohol Expo and logistics service network cooperated with COMPLANT International Transportation Co., Ltd.. WABA consolidated the basic system, improved the research institutes, strengthened the International Alcohol Research Institute overseas cooperation, improved WABA website and its wechat platform. WABA also introduced relevant professionals, new postdoctors, doctor and a large number of research forces, and cooperated with Moutai Institute successful. WABA strengthened the release platform to create authoritative releases and published “2017 Global Wine Development Report (white paper)”in both Chinese and English versions. In this report, WABA released the Chinese alcohol index, the global alcohol ranking data and the development trend. WABA won the bid to participate in “Chinese liquor guide” of Chinese Ministry of Commerce. WABA reported the soft moutai-flavor liquor standard, and continued to start paper version magazine “Wine Expo”. At the same time, Vice-chairman Wang Xinguo also pointed out that WABA needed to continue to work and solve some problems.
Dr. Chen Zeming, Secretary General of WABA, published “2017 Development Report of Global Alcohol Industry (White Paper)”on behalf of development report of global alcohol industry compilation committee.He also pointed out that the 2017 white paper was still published in Chinese and English versions. The main report focused on the status of the global alcohol manufacturing industry and research conclusions of global alcohol investment environment, opportunities, risks and competitive situations. The report focused on Chinese alcohol economy scales, operational capacity, profitability, stage characteristics, demand structure and so on. The meeting also issued “2017 China Alcohol Circulation Situation Report”, “2017 Report of Quality & Safety of Imported Alcoholic Beverage in China” and “Reconstruction of Alcohol Industry Chain Driven by New Industrial Mode” published by Chinese Ministry of Commerce, China Import and Export Inspection and Quarantine Bureau and WABA International Alcohol Industry Research Institute. After the release, guests were attracted by the “White Paper”.
Huang Zhujun, deputy director of Guizhou Commercial Department, released the ” China Alcohol Circulation Industry Development Report” by the Ministry of Commerce in topic release stage.He pointed out that the current alcohol market has steadily increased. Market structure has been optimized and the price recovery has improved. Exports was continued to improve. Industry recovery and the supply level was significantly improved. Marketing model innovation and internationalization process accelerated quickly.
Liao Jiongfeng, deputy director of Guizhou Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, issued ” Report of Quality & Safety of Imported Alcoholic Beverage in China” on behalf of Import and Export Food Safety Bureau of AQSIQ.He pointed out that China’s import and export alcohol quality remained stable. Imported alcohol prices tend to be rational and popular. Imports volume and value increased by 6.28% and 1.60% respectively in 2016. China’s alcohol products exported to more than 140 countries and regions. 2016 exports volume and value rose steadily and showed an increase of 9.92% and 2.43% respectively. The quality of imports and exports of alcohol products improved. The export quality of Guizhou Moutai has been ranked a better level.
Li Mingcan, Deputy General Manager of Kweichow Moutai Co.,Ltd., also Chairman of Kweichow Moutai Moutai-flavor Liqour Marketing Co., Ltd. released “Basic Situation Report of Global Wine Development”.He pointed out that the global alcohol industry gradually focus more on product customization, consumption upgrading, innovative marketing. International brands have shown a strong development trend.
Wu Mai, Deputy Inspector of Guizhou Tourism Development Committee, also Vice President and Secretary General of Guizhou Tourism Association released “Wine + Tourism report”.
Wu Mai pointed out that “wine tourism integration” is an innovative model which promotes structural reform of the supply side of the wine industry, and improves quality and efficiency of wine businesses, which will bring new opportunities for marketing.Four projects were initiated in the theme initiation procedure, WABA and Maotai “wine + travel + Internet + technology + poverty alleviation + finance” project was officially launched.Chinese Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship CETUS Cocktail Mixing, Wine and Meal Training and Employment Promotion Program of Central Communist Youth League Network Center were initiated.
The First Stage of Alcohol Enterprises Admission Program of WABA Shuanglong Alcohol Expo was initiatedPhoenix International Traceability “ASEAN 10+3” Alcohol Trade Promotion Program was initiated.Yang Fengxiang, Chairman of technology development of Moutai Group; Shao Dehai, A Party Committee Member of Central Communist Youth League Network Film and Television Center, General manager of Zhongqing Shixun Mobile TV Station; Zeng Jian, deputy chief economist of China Railway Cultural Tourism; Luo Xiaolin, director of Phoenix International Traceability gave speeches with respect to projects initiation respectively.

Finally, foreign guests and leaders in the meeting pressed the electronic launch button, ushered in the bright tomorrow.In the afternoon, the participants visited the China International Eco-city in Guiyang suburbs to inspect the construction of Shuanglong Alcohol Expo. The vice chairman, executive director, director of WABA, and member units of Shuanglong town were pleased to see the construction of the Shuanglong Alcohol Expo. They are full of hope and confidence witness the gradual formation of ” Alcohol Expo + town with tourism-related industry chain”. There has been more than 20 businesses from all over the globe entered the already built international stylish winery center (picture). They will be used for wine brewing process display, Southeast Asian style street, duty-free shopping area and exotic bar street.
Participants said that they have been actively promoting the world’s well-known wine business to settle in the Wine Expo Park. Vice Chairman of WABA, Ge Zhirong happily said in front of the international stylish winery center: This is a beneficial project that promotes communication of global wine products, and achieves a win-win cooperation. Participants were satisfied with the infrastructure of the hotel, the logistics park, the scenic area in the Wine Expo Park. The Wine Expo Park project is located in the core area of Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone, Guizhou. It’s hopeful to see the formation of the five bases including liquor products import and export, wine research and training institute, wine freight service, wine intelligent logistics, import and export alcohol certification.
